Пётр Степанович Муссури (13-01-1911 - 01-08-1937) Greek-Soviet composer (Pyotr Stepanovich Mussuri)



Pyotr Mussuri (Moussouris) was a Greek citizen born in Baku and lived in Moscow. He worked as a free-lance journalist for the Russian chess magazine "64". He covered the famous 1936 Nottingham tournament for the magazine. In 1937 during the Great Purge he was wrongfully accused and executed.

He composed direct mates and selfmates and was also a judge and organizer.

Bernard Courthiau (13-01-1953) French composer

Bernard Courthiau composes mostly direct mate longmovers. In 2019 he returned to chess composition after a 35-year break. You may check his recent #7 prizewinner published in Phénix.
